Orthodontics
Orthodontic treatment covers a wide range of problems of our oral and maxillofacial system. In our clinic, all kinds of orthodontic treatments are provided by a distinguished specialist Orthodontist. The technique to be followed will depend on the problem at hand and the age of the patient. The most common mechanisms of orthodontic treatment are:
- metal braces(brackets)
- the transparent braces
- the transparent splint method Invisalign
- lingual braces
- the enlarger
- type armpitsHawley
- the functional class devices ΙΙ
- class III devices – third class mask
- the combination of orthodontics and maxillofacial surgery
Metal brackets (metal brackets) in a metallic – silver color are placed on the teeth of both the upper and lower jaw, usually after the children’s teeth are gone and their aim is to straighten the permanent teeth, to bring them to the correct heights, as well as to improve mouth closure. In modern orthodontics, these braces are self-ligating, that is, they have an internal mechanism that secures the orthodontic wire inside the brace for greater comfort, hygiene and a little faster results. Also, the rings on the back teeth are now replaced by braces for better oral hygiene and greater comfort.
Transparent braces (ceramic brackets) in a discreet – almost transparent color are used in exactly the same way as metal ones with the difference that their construction material is porcelain which allows them to be more discreet and thus often meet the expectations of adults but and some younger patients who prefer them. And these (like metal ones) in modern orthodontics are self-bonding. Transparent braces compared to metal braces have a slightly higher cost.
Below are pictures of the case before and after the Orthodontic treatment.
